Believing: The catalyst to deliverance

n today’s world there are many refuters of God’s Word (the Bible). They are not happy unless they can prove that the Bible is full of myths and inaccuracies and one of the ways they do this is to say that God is not in business anymore to deliver His people by miracles. As a matter of fact a lot of the leadership in the Christian Church denies that there is a super natural realm and that people can be delivered from sickness, mental afflictions and the problems that they find themselves in. This is contrary to the truth of God’s Word. God says that He wants us to be in health and to prosper (III John 2) and that we as Christians have been delivered from the power of darkness ( Colossians 1: 12 & 13). So why are we not seeing the deliverance in the Church that we should be seeing?

In today’s world there are many refuters of God’s Word (the Bible).
To understand this we must first understand a little bit about the mind and how it works. The mind works much like a computer the more false information you put into the computer the more useless information you will get out. The mind is the same, it absorbs information not from a keyboard but by the five senses of seeing, hearing , smelling, touching and tasting. These are the only avenues by which we get information into our minds. We are surrounded by the negative every day and if we do not determine what we listen to, read, watch or talk about we are doomed to fall into the trap of believing those negatives. We will end up living a life of doubt and defeat. But we don’t have to live this way for God tells us that the Christian is delivered from the powers of darkness and that the Christian is of God and has overcome the forces of evil (I John 4:4).
So how do we get to that point of walking “ as super conquerors” as it says in Romans 8:37? To begin with let’s look at Romans 12: 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. What are we to renew our minds to? Surely, it wouldn’t be the things that we are surrounded with every day, would it? Do you think that reading more newspapers or watching more television will get you the deliverance that you are looking for? Definitely not! The only thing that will give you that deliverance is the study, understanding and application of the principles laid out in the Bible, specifically the Pauline Epistles FIRST and then the Gospels and the rest of the Bible. John 8:30&31 30 As he spake these words, many believed on him.
31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
At this point I must veer from this train of thought to explain that GOD IS LIGHT AND IN HIM IS NO DARKNESS AT ALL. I John 1:5. God never puts sickness on someone. He never makes a Christian to suffer nor does He want a Christian to suffer, EVER! So all of these people that are trying to suffer for Christ or flog themselves to get closer to God or that think that austerity will make them a better person are WRONG. Jesus Christ came that we would have a life that abounds with good things John 10:10. It is the devil that puts sickness, disease and suffering on people. So don’t try to live within the prisons that you find yourself. Learn to know the truth and that truth shall make you free.
Jesus Christ has already defeated the devil so all we have to do is claim what is already rightfully ours.
Matthew 5: 5-13 5 And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,
6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.
7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.
8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.
12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
13 And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.
The Centurion knew enough about Jesus Christ that he “believed” that if Jesus Christ would just speak the word ( to say, your servant is healed) then his servant would be healed. You are not going to find that information in your local newspaper.
Matthew 9:18-22 18 While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.
19 And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples.
20 And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment:
21 For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.
22 But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith (thy believing) hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.
It wasn’t something that Jesus did it that delivered the woman it was the woman’s believing that gave her deliverance. Believing is the catalyst that releases the energy of Christ in you.
The only way that the world will ever see signs, miracles and wonders in our time is for Christians to stop allowing the world to inundate their minds and to put on the mind of Christ by the study and application of God’s Word.
I challenge you to put away your reading materials, music and television for a month and just read the Epistles and Gospels. At the end of that month you will be a changed person with a more positive outlook on life and you will start to see the deliverance that you long for.
