The Worth of a Soul

Have you ever asked yourself “what am I worth.” No, not what is in your bank account, but, how
precious, how important are YOU in the eyes of God? How important is your life? The answer is
simple. To God, you are worth more than the whole World. This is not a group thing, but, as an
individual you and your life are more precious to God than all the wealth of the World.
To start to see this great love God has for you let’s look at John 3:16.
John 3:15-17 (KJV)
15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might
be saved.
God allowed His son to pay the ultimate price to allow each person to, by free will, believe to
eternal life. You see, when Adam ate of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil he
committed high treason against God. What he did was transfer the power and authority that God
had given him to the Devil. Before the transgression of Adam he had dominion over the world.
Genesis 1:27-28 (KJV)
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created
he them.
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and
subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living
thing that moveth upon the earth.
Genesis 2:18-20 (KJV)
18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for
him.
19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and
brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living
creature, that was the name thereof.
20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for
Adam there was not found an help meet for him.
However, in Matthew chapter four the Devil, when tempting Jesus Christ, said he, the Devil, had
the dominion, the authority.
Matthew 4:8-10 (KJV)
8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of
the world, and the glory of them;
9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy
God, and him only shalt thou serve.
If the Devil didn’t have that dominion then Jesus Christ would have called him on this. Jesus
Christ was really good at seeing through lies. But, even though the Devil is the father of lies he
wasn’t lying about this.
Notice Jesus Christ’s response to this. Jesus Christ could have ruled the World, but he chose to
fulfill his mission here on Earth. And what was that mission?
Luke 4:18-19 (KJV)
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he
hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to
the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
His mission here on Earth was to help people! He could have had all the riches of the World! He could
have had all the praise and glory of men. But, instead, he chose to help mankind and redeem mankind.
Jesus Christ, never sinned, never broke fellowship with God. He had sinless blood. Not since Adam had a
man sinless blood, but, Jesus Christ did (Matt. 27:4.) So, because the Devil killed Jesus Christ (Hebrews
2:14), which he had no right to do, Jesus Christ was able to make a way whereby anyone that comes
unto him will be saved (Romans 10:910.)
So how important are you to God? He knows how many hairs you have on your head. This is a figure of
speech that means He knows everything about you and He cares for you (I Peter 5:7.)
Luke 12:7 (KJV)
7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than
many sparrows.
1 John 4:4 (KJV)
4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he
that is in the world.
Ye are OF God. Just think about that! You who were dead in trespasses and sins (Eph. 2:1) NOW you are
Of GOD. You are His child!
We place too much emphasis on what mankind thinks of us rather than on what God thinks of us. We
strive for the accolades of men and, yet, God says He loves us and He cares for us. How much easier
would life be if we focus on God’s opinion of us!
Isaiah 49:15-16 (KJV)
15 Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb?yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.
16 Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.
One of the most tender sensitive parts of the body are the palms of our hands. No one tattoos the palms
of their hands because it is too painful, but, God says He has tattooed your name on the palms of His
hands AND His palms, with your name written on them, is continually before Him. This again is a figure
of speech as to how much God loves you.
The World will tell you that you are no good. The World will tell you that you aren’t worth anything. But,
God is always there with you. God never leaves you or forsakes you and you are the apple of God’s eye
