THE FEAR OF CERTAINTY
I have noticed, over the years, that there is a push in almost all spectrums of life to have the Christian believe that there is danger in being certain about your convictions, about God and God’s Word (the Bible), as well as just about everything pertaining to anything that this country and our society has stood for since it’s inception. I am here to tell you that this is nothing but propaganda from the enemy!
I have noticed, over the years, that there is a push in almost all spectrums of society to have Christians believe that there is danger in being certain about thier convictions, about God and God’s Word (the Bible), as well as just about everything pertaining to anything that our founding fathers and our society has stood for since it’s inception.
Unfortunately, this is even being promulgated in the Christian Churches. Oh, you say that’s not true. Really? let’s take a little test. How many of you know that you are going to heaven for sure? Do you know for sure that there is a devil and how he works. Look at Romans 11:25 God doesn’t want you to be ignorant of the mystery, the mystery that had been hidden throughout all the ages that it is Christ in you the hope of glory Col. 1:27. If he doesn’t want us ignorant then He must want us to know and to be certain.
The way I see it the Christian population has come to the point in their lives that they have been defeated before they even start into the fray. The psychology of winning is absolute confidence in what you are doing. Athletes have a higher injury rate when they are not focused and when they are giving less 100% than when they are focused and giving their all.
I have yet to see an athlete mentally prepare before competing by closing their eyes and visualizing being uncertain in their movements and in the outcome of the event. How about soccer? How would this be? Two teams are set facing each other in the championship game and the players on one side start thinking to themselves that it would be wrong to beat the other team because it would hurt the other teams feelings and perhaps it isn’t right to desire to win and we have so much ability that we should probably let the other team have the ball because we should share Perhaps the coach is calling from the side line “don’t worry about it guys we don’t know if we will win so just be nice to the other team and perhaps you’ll win”.
You think this is silly and foolish and I tell you that it is no more silly and foolish than a minister standing in the pulpit and telling his congregation that you can’t tell whether or not you are bound for heaven or hell until you get there or that we cannot be certain of anything. Listen people, I am certain about a lot of things and one of them is that that minister is not speaking for the One True God but foir is speaking for the devil and so is anyone that tries to tell you that Christians who stand firm on the truth of God’s Word cause suffering and most of the wars throughout history. Christians have improved this planet more than any other group in history. This country, contrary to modern belief, was founded on Christian principles and explored and settled by Christians. How far back would you like to go? How about all the way back to Leif Ericsson. A quote from The Voyages To Vinland circa 1000 A.D. “ King Olaf expounded the faith to him (Leif), as he did to other heathen men who came to visit him. It proved easy for the king to persuade Leif, and he was accordingly baptized, together with all his shipmates.”
Christopher Columbus, Amerigo Vespucci and John Cabbot were all Christians. The Pilgrims were Christians and if you want to read a story of believing God, read, Of Plymouth Plantation 1620-1647 by William Bradford. You see all of these people were certain, they had confidence and they accomplished great things.
You can never achieve great things without being certain and the truth of the matter is Christians can’t succeed by themselves, they need God and the truth of God’s Word to be “ more than a conqueror in every situation” (ROM 8:37)
There are many things that God does not want us ignorant of (in other words He wants us certain/knowledgable) including: the mystery ROM 11:25, our walk as Christians I COR chpt. 10, we are not to be ignorant of spiritual matters I COR chpt. 12, God’s deliverance and the effectiveness of prayer 2 COR 1:8ff, we are not to be ignorant of Satan’s devices 2 COR 2:11, we are not to be ignorant of (what happened to) those that have fallen asleep (died) I THESS 4:13,
“ my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” HOSEA 4:6 It’s high time that Christians stop being bullied, abused and destroyed and that they study the Bible so that they can stand in the evil day (every day is an evil day because we have so much negative influence bombarding us) and having done all STAND. You don’t do this when you allow the world to tell you you are less than what God’s Word says you are.
“ That we be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive: but speaking the truth in love , may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other gentiles walk in the vanity of their mind having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: who being past feeling have given themselves over to lasciviousness , to work all uncleaness with greediness. But ye have not so learned Christ; if so be that ye have heard him and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; and be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. EPH. 4: 14-24
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, lean not to thine own understanding in all thy ways acknowledge Him and he will direct thy steps. Prov 3: 5&6.
Study God’s word and walk in that knowledge and when you do that know that God is with you and that you are a light unto the world and that you are more than a conqueror in every situation.
