HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR YOUR DELIVERANCE?
Have you ever asked yourself how long it takes God to give you deliverance from the prison or situation that you are in? I am not talking just about prisons made of concrete and steel but of the prisons of doubt, worry and fear; the prisons of no job or no money, the prisons of the secrets that you don’t want to tell anybody about, the thoughts of suicide and death. These are the wretched prisons that we all have in one form or another during our lives. So, how long does it take God to get you out of any of those prisons and situations? As long as it takes you to believe His promises!
That may seem contrite and simplistic but it is the truth! The problem is even now you don’t believe what I am saying because nobody has taught you this and you have not experienced it. Every person that stands as a Christian leader should be proclaiming what I am teaching you on every street corner and from the roof tops. But, instead, we have a dearth of God’s Word and subsequently a dearth in people getting their deliverance.
There is a record in Mark that I want to share with you that will help clarify this.
Mark 5:22 And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,
This is the first principle in getting the deliverance that you so desperately desire. You have to go where there is help. In this case it was to Jesus Christ. The man believed that Jesus could help. What do you believe? As you will see in a minute the things (people) of the world told Jairus that Jesus couldn’t help and that the situation was hopeless, but with God all things a possible.
23 And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.
How many times do we wait until we are in desperate need before we turn to God for deliverance. This man, Jairus, did, where his daughter was almost to the point of death. And you know what Jesus did He told Jairus that He was too busy, NO. Jesus told Jairus that he should have come to church more often or that it was God’s way of making his daughter humble or that good things come out bad things and that even if she did die that she would be in heaven with God. NO, NO, NO!!! Look at what he did.
24 And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.
Jesus Christ stopped what he was doing and went with the man!
Now on his way to the see the daughter of this man Jesus stopped to heal a woman that had an issue of blood (it was like she was on her period) for twelve years. She came to Him and He did the most loving thing He blessed her and sent her on her way, whole.
25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
Let me ask you, is there healing in a garment? No there isn’t. If there were then the throng around him would have gotten all kinds of healing. If there were healing in garment then the soldiers that took Jesus’ coat when they crucified him would have seen healing in their bodies, but they didn’t. Why? Because the healing lies with the individual who needs the healing. The woman believed! Her believing is what gave her her deliverance not the garment!
29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?
31 And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
32 And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.
33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of
thy plague
The word faith is the Greek word pistis and is translated faith or believing. Here it should be translated- believing. Jesus didn’t say it was His garment or Himself that made her whole it was her believing!
35 While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?
Hah! I told you. Here they come with all of the reasonings and excuses of the world why Jairus couldn’t have the deliverance for his daughter. Let me tell you something God is never late. If you get to the place that you absolutely believe God and His Word you will get your deliverance.
36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
This is God’s message to you! Be not afraid only BELIEVE!!
Fear is the opposite of believing it is believing wrongly. Did Jesus say, let’s go any way? No! Why did He say what He said When He said it? Because the father was responsible for his daughter and if that little girl was going to get up the father was going to have to believe. Knowing this you will understand why Jesus does what He does in the next four verses.
37 And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.
38 And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.
39 And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.
40 And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.
41 And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.
42 And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.
43 And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat.
The father and mother believed, they believed and they got their deliverance.
You can go a whole life time doubting the Bible and never claiming the promises God has for you. But you can put aside the naysayers and the critics of the Bible just as Jesus and Jairus did and get the deliverance you need by studying the Bible until you, too, get to the place that you believe and you get your deliverance.
Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Phillipians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
I John 4: 4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
Phillipians 3: 13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
II Timothy 1: 7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Many of us have gone astray and we desire to get out of what we are in. The only way to do that is setting aside the things that got us here in the first place, study God’s Word to find those promises to you and dwell in His Word until you get to the point that you literally believe those promises and then you will receive your deliverance. God is faithful to His Word; He will perform it.
