DOES EVERYTHING HAPPEN FOR A REASON?

I am interrupting my series on Speaking in Tongues to write this article. The reason for this is that I have been hearing “everything happens for a reason” over and over again. People use this with the sincerity and conviction in their mind that a higher power, that rules over all, makes those decisions for you and THAT is why everything happens for a reason. You know, every time I hear that used it is always when something negative happens. What they should be saying is that God willed it to happen or it was divinely determined.

What I want to do is yell at them that that is not true! I want to pull my hair out (what is left of it) and shout at them that God is good and that they are wrong, but, I won’t and I don’t because it wouldn’t help them. It would only hurt them and confuse them. So, what I will do is teach you the truth from God’s Word so that you are not in the same boat as these folks, saying with their mouths “everything happens for a reason” and yet, inwardly, wondering why it happened to them or theirs and all the while hurting from the emotional pain.
To understand that God doesn’t cause the negative things that happen to people such as miscarriages and deaths and war and famine etc., etc. we have to get some basic concepts down. 1) God does only good. 2) There is a god of this world, the Devil, who only does evil and can disguise that as some good and a sprinkling of evil. 3)There is a sin of man that passed on all mankind when Adam sinned and because of this all men are under the rule of the Devil. 4) When Jesus Christ fulfilled the Law (of Moses) including being crucified, and laying in the grave for three days and three nights he redeemed (bought back) any man or woman that chooses him as Lord. (Romans 10:9&10. 5) That Christians are to have the dominion NOW not next year or in the sweet by and by, but, NOW. They are to be super conquerors. Romans 8:37.
GOD IS A GOOD GOD
I John 5: 3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
God is light both literally and figuratively. Light means the absence of darkness evil and negatives.
Romans 2: 4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
II Chronicles 30: 9 For if ye turn again unto the LORD, your brethren and your children shall find compassion before them that lead them captive, so that they shall come again into this land: for the LORD your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if ye return unto him.
Psalm 33: 12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.
No matter what the “new” history buffs say the United States have God as their God for almost two hundred years and we were blessed.
Psalm 46:1 To the chief Musician for the sons of Korah, A Song upon Alamoth. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.
Psalm 84: 8 O LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah.
9 Behold, O God our shield, and look upon the face of thine anointed.
10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
Psalm 116: 4 Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.
5 Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.
6 The LORD preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me.
7 Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee.
8 For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.
Psalm 144: 9 I will sing a new song unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee.
10 It is he that giveth salvation unto kings: who delivereth David his servant from the hurtful sword.
11 Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood:
12 That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace:
13 That our garners may be full, affording all manner of store: that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets:
14 That our oxen may be strong to labour; that there be no breaking in, nor going out; that there be no complaining in our streets.
15 Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.
Proverb 5: 5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
I Corinthians 10: 13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
I Corinthians 14: 33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
I John 4: 8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
THE EVIL RULER
John 14: 30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.
Here Jesus Christ is talking about Satan. The word “prince” is, also, translated magistrate or ruler.
Isaiah 14: 12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;
17 That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?
18 All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house.
19 But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet.
20 Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned.
OUR ADVERSARY
I Peter 5: 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
Ephesians 6: 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
OUR REDEMPTION
ROMANS 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
17 For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
GOD’S WILL FOR YOUR LIFE
III John 2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
Philippians 4: 19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Romans 5:17 For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
Romans 8: 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Proverb 3: 5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
The reasons things happen are 1) people screw up! For example: a person does not pay attention to where he is going and steps in a hole and twists his ankle. This didn’t happen for any other reason than that the man wasn’t paying attention! 2) Adam screwed up! That is why people die. Adam committed high treason against God. 3) We have an adversary that rules the Earth, because Adam gave him that power. That is why in Hebrews 2:14 it says that the Devil has the power of death. This same being still rules the earth and causes evil things to happen. BUT, Jesus Christ paid the price and now Christians that know the truth of God’s Word can be, will be and God desires you to be a super conqueror!
God can turn bad situations to good but He never causes bad situations. Otherwise, God would be a liar (God does not lie Numbers 23:14). God is Light, God is love and God loves you. He wants only the best for you and that can only happen if you claim His promises to you.
