APPLY YOUR HEART TO UNDERSTANDING

As I was reading the Bible the other day I was struck by the contrast between the last half of Proverbs 1 and the first half of Proverbs 2. What makes the contrast more poignant is how true it rings today and that it is all based on each individual’s freedom of will.

As I was reading the Bible the other day I was struck by the contrast between the last half of Proverbs 1 and the first half of Proverbs 2. What makes the contrast more poignant is how true it rings today and that it is all based on each individual’s freedom of will.
Proverbs 1:22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?
23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;
25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:
26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:
29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:
30 They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.
31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
32 For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.
33 But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.
Proverbs 2:1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
8 He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.
9 Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.
10 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;
11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:
There is only one way to get the knowledge, wisdom and understanding that Proverbs is talking about and that is by The Word Of God (The Bible). Whether it is the Spoken Word or the Written Word. In other words by someone teaching you or by you reading it. No other book, speech, article or T.V. program will ever do it. You must search the Scriptures.
The question still begs today “How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? “
God continues to call out to you. Come to Him and He will give you your heart’s desire. God’s promises come with no strings attached. Why not search the Scriptures and apply those principles and let God’s hand of blessing, peace and abundance rule in your life?
