WHEN THE DAY OF PENTECOST WAS FULLY COME

How many many Christians miss the importance of Pentecost. This is because the organized churches don’t teach the people. Could it be that they don’t know the importance of Pentecost? Could it be they don’t understand the importance of the day of Pentecost. Or is it that the leadership has not wanted to teach it because of fear, fear of what others might say or fear that the people would really believe it. Whatever the reason, it is a travesty that the people are so lost.

Why would I say “lost?” Because, without knowing and understanding the importance of the Day of Pentecost the people don’t know who they are, they don’t know what they have and they are operating under a set of rules that no longer applies to them.
The Day of Pentecost is happens fifty days after Christ’s resurrection. Tradition would hold that the date for the year 2008 to be May 12th. Pantecost was a Jewish holiday. A day in which the men in Israel and Judah were supposed to present themselves at the temple. Pentecost is, also, the first time men received the gift of holy spirit without condition. It was the day that men and women became sons and daughters of God by spiritual birth.
I John 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
Romans 8: 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
The day of Pentecost had been coming for centuries. It started coming after Adam sinned in the Garden of Eden. God said in Genesis chapter three:
Genesis 3: 14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
The “bruise” in verse 15 is to crush. The seed of the woman is going to crush your head, all your thoughts and plans. He is going to destroy it and them.
Again and again throughout the ages God saved the Christ line until Mary said “ be it unto me according to thy word.” Even then Herod tried to kill the Christ (the savior) by killing all of the children in Bethlehem two years old and under. The devil thought he had finally outsmarted God by killing His only begotten Son. Jesus Christ always did the will of the Father (never having sinned) because he had innocent blood He became the payment for all mankind. We may die but we will get up and be with god for all of eternity (I Thess. 4:13-18)
I John 2: 2 And he (Jesus Christ) is the propitiation (payment) for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
The course of history is set, the devil is now doomed because of what Christ accomplished. Now instead of one Son of God walking the earth and thwarting the plans of the devil anyone born again of God’s spirit ( Rom. 10: 9&10) can do the works that Christ did and more!
John 14: 12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
The only work that we can do that is greater than what Christ did here on Earth is to bring people to the place that they choose to be born again sons of God. Jesus Christ couldn’t do that because it was not yet available. We CAN and SHOULD do all the works that Jesus Christ did not only are we directed to but we have the ability to!
I John 4: 4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
Romans 8: 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Let’s take a look at the record of the Day of Pentecost.
Acts 2: 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,
10 Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,
11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.
12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?
13 Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.
14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:
15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.
16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:
21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:
23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:
24 Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.
25 For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:
26 Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:
27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.
29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.
30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.
33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.
34 For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,
35 Until I make thy foes thy footstool.
36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
Speaking in tongues was the manifestation in the senses world of the reality and presence of the new birth, the proof that they were once and for all sons of God. In the early church any time that someone was born again they spoke in tongues. God never gives anything but the best and He never gives anything that is harmful to the believer. Speaking in tongues is perfect prayer, it is communication with God and it is something to do on a daily basis .
Within that gift of holy spirit, the gift made available on the Day of Pentecost, are nine manifestations that each and every born again believer can do if instructed on their operation and believes to operate them and those are Speaking in Tongues, Interpretation of Tongues, Prophesy, Word of Wisdom, Word of Knowledge, Discerning of Spirits, Faith, Miracles and Gifts of Healings.
The last thing is the set of rules that changed on the Day of Penticost. No longer are we under the Law of Moses. Jesus Christ was under the Law. But he fulfilled the Law.
Galatians 3: 23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
Jesus Christ preached the gospel of the kingdom of God, that it was at hand. Paul preached the gospel of Jesus Christ, who He is and what He accomplished for you and for me and what He is for you and for me.
There is great power in every Christian. Power to do good, to heal the sick, to raise the dead, to bring people to Christ. What a privilege, what an honor and what an opportunity. And, it all started on the Day of Pentecost.
