Many times we have honored our men and women in arms for their service to our country and rightfully so, but there is another cost to be paid for the freedom that our forefathers have given us. It is ours and it is only we here in the United States who can pay. That obligation does not rest on the shoulders of the brave military men and women of our country. This is an obligation that they cannot fulfill. It requires the same dedication that our troops exhibit and that obligation lays at the feet of our Christian leadership, our government officials and the citizenry of America.
There is a song called Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus that has blessed my life over the years because it is as true now as it was when it was written. Some times I forget the richness and beauty of God’s Word and God’s love for us until something brings God’s word back into remembrance.
Over the last four decades the businesses and corporations in the United States have shifted their philosophy on storage and stock piling of goods to a “just in time supply” mode. In other words, there is little to no “stock” or stored items in the store. All the merchandise, food, etc. comes in just in time for the consumer to purchase it. This has been a real cost saver to the businesses that, before the “just in time supply”, had to carry large amounts of merchandise and hold it for long periods of time. Their cash flow is better and the cost of holding those goods is virtually gone. “Just in time supply” was and is good for business but what about the consumer in today’s world?
Many people in the Christian churches today find themselves under constant pressure to “be good enough” to warrant the blessings of God and to do the right things so that they can make their way to heaven. I tell you now you will never be good enough to deserve the title of Christian” and you can never do enough good works to get you to heaven.
O.K. I have had enough. Now people are saying that the Bible has to be put in plastic bags with a warning label on it saying that it is full of violence, strong language and sexuality including beastiality. OK, isn’t that like doing it with dogs and horses?? Where is that in the Bible? Then they say “ it’s not really God’s Word it is only some stories written by men.”
From time to time I see news releases of a guy in Florida that proclaims himself Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ the only begotten son of God. I laugh,HA! The reason that I can laugh is that I know the truth of God’s word, the Bible. For the rest of society this is a real pickle.
Over the centuries men have continued to hack away at the Bible and it’s reputation so that now it is almost impossible to find a person that believes that the Bible is THE WORD OF GOD. Even in the hierarchy of the Christian Churches (where this should be a given (a cardinal rule)) they think that they are modern or sophisticated to believe exactly the opposite
Main stream Christian leaders and government officials in the United States have held a belief over the past few decades that the Western World especially the United States has to protect Israel because of some Bible thing that (they say) Israel has to remain a nation because they are God’s chosen people and this is the end times etc.. I see things differently.
As I walk through this life I endeavor to work on different aspects of my life to improve it. Lately, I have been thinking and working on “God first” in my life. I started thinking about this because I have been taught that God should be first in my life and I am reminded of that each time I pray (thank God) for the food that I am going to eat. Honestly, I could do a better job of praying before every meal. So, that is what got me to thinking about God being first.
