JESUS, JESUS CHRIST, CHRIST JESUS

What is in a name? Most people don’t give it a thought. In English we have one name for God – God. Yet in the Bible there are over twenty names for God including Elohim, El Shaddai, Adon and Jehovah. It is the same with the names of Jesus. You hear people praying in the name of Jesus or in the name of Jesus Christ or they pray to God and say amen. If you don’t believe that the Bible is The Word of God then you may have a problem with what I am about to say BUT if you hang in there you will see that the Bible is The Word of God. It is important to understand that God has a reason for everything that He says in the Bible, where it is placed in the Bible, why it it placed and to whom it is addressed; it is like this for the names of Jesus.

It is important to understand that God has a reason for everything that He says in the Bible, where it is placed in the Bible, why it it placed and to whom it is addressed; it is like this for the names of Jesus.
The Name of Jesus
The name of Jesus is used when God is talking about Jesus’ on Earthness or when Jesus is dealing with someone in a non-savior type role. The word Jesus is used over 600 times in the Gospels and yet only four times in conjunction with the word Christ. That is because Jesus walked among men and dealt with man on an horizontal level.
In Romans 10:9 & 10 we are to believe that Jesus is Lord. The humiliated one , the one that died for you and me. It is He who is lord! Once we believe that and that God rasied Him from the dead he becomes our Savior, our Christ.
The Name of Jesus Christ
According to E.W. Bullinger, Jesus Christ means “Jesus the Messiah” in the Gospels and “Jesus Who humbled himself but now is exalted and glorified as Christ.” The usage of Jesus Christ is always in relationship to His accomplishment of having saved mankind or saving or delivering men and women on an individual basis. Paul was an Apostle of Jesus Christ (Eph. 1:1). He was a servant of Jesus Christ (Romans 1:1). He always taught about Jesus who lived a sinless life, died on the cross, was resurrected the third day and is now seated on the right hand of God. This is the Gospel (the good news) of Jesus Christ. That news is that the Messiah, the Saviour of the World has come and accomplished what God had set out for him to do. Not only that, but He opened the way for men and women to be a new creation and to be the sons and daughters of God and that there is salvation and deliverance from the snares of sin sickness and every other thing that enslaves us.
II Corinthians 5: 17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
I John 2: 2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
Some examples of the usage of the name of Jesus Christ are:
Acts 2: 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Acts 3:1 Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.
2 And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;
3 Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.
4 And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.
5 And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.
6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
8 And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.
Acts 8: 12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
Acts 9: 34 And Peter said unto him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately.
Acts 15: 11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.
Acts 16: 18 And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.
Acts 16: 31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
Romans 3: 22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
Romans 5: 11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. 12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.
15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.
17 For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
Over and over again Paul declares what Jesus the Messiah, Jesus the Saviour accomplished for us and what He will continue to do for us as intercessor:
Romans 8: 34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
He is our mediator:
I Timothy 2: 5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
It is never Jesus who is our Deliverer and our Savior, it is always Jesus Christ! The reason for this is Jesus hadn’t completed the work of redeeming mankind. It is Jesus as the Christ that not only has completed that work but, also, continues to deliver those who believe on Him. There is power in that name that we as God’s children and brothers of Jesus Christ can tap into. All we have to do is use it! Pray in the name of Jesus Christ!
Christ Jesus
The name Christ Jesus is used in conjunction with our standing as sons of God. Once we confess Jesus as lord and believe in our heart that God raised him from the dead He becomes our Christ. When we need help it is Jesus Christ that helps us. When God talks about our position as sons of God then God uses the name Christ Jesus to exalt Christ’s position as the Messiah, Deliverer and Savior above Hhis on earthness.
Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
Romans 8: 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
To be in service to Christ it is to Christ Jesus because our standing is in Christ Jesus and we have risen above the need category of calling on the name of Jesus Christ for ourselves and have moved out to help others.
I Corinthians 4: 15 For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.
16 Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.
Galatians 2: 4 And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:
5 To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.
Galatians 3: 26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:
Ephesians 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
7 That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Phillipians 3:1 Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe.
2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision.
3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.
4 Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:
5 Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;
6 Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.
7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.
12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.
16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.
17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
By knowing the proper usage of the names of Jesus, Jesus Christ, and Christ Jesus we are not only enlightened but we have power to help ourselves and to help others.
