GOD’S AMAZING GRACE

Many people in the Christian churches today find themselves under constant pressure to “be good enough” to warrant the blessings of God and to do the right things so that they can make their way to heaven. I tell you now you will never be good enough to deserve the title of Christian” and you can never do enough good works to get you to heaven.

Many people in the Christian churches today find themselves under constant pressure to “be good enough” to warrant the blessings of God and to do the right things so that they can make their way to heaven. I tell you now you will never be good enough to deserve the title of Christian” and you can never do enough good works to get you to heaven.
The ideas that people have to do something to get something from God are ideas from man’s thinking not what God thinks. God knows our weaknesses and our frailties.
Ephesians 2:11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world.
When someone makes a pact or agreement with someone else they seal the deal with something physical or material. In today’s world we usually sign a paper with the agreement written on it. When people get married they exchange rings and wear them as a sign of their oaths, their promises of fidelity to each other. In the case of Abraham God told him to circumcise his foreskin as a sign of God’s pact, God’s promise to Abraham. That followed through to the nation of Israel. So God is saying that you didn’t have the promises of God made to Abraham. Not only that but you didn’t know Christ therefore you were without Christ. You weren’t part of the nation of Israel and again you were strangers, you didn’t know nor were you included in, the promises made to Abraham, Isaac (Abraham’s son), and Jacob (Isaac’s son) where Israel had the inheritance of the promises..
Having no hope means that you didn’t have anything to look forward to. The hope for the Christian is the return of Jesus Christ. Then all those born of God’s spirit, both those that are dead and those that are alive at his coming, go to heaven. I Thessalonians 4:13-18.
Then look at what it says “and without God in the world.” Well that just shoots down the idea that there is a little bit of the divine in all of us. Not if the Bible is right. If you are not a Christian you are without God. But as a Christian you have something really tremendous. Ephesians 2:1-18
Ephesians 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins:
2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
7 That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.
18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father
19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God.
You ought to read this section of the Bible over and over until it sinks into every fiber of your being. Look at some of the high lights of this section.
1) God is rich in mercy (God’s withholding of merited judgement)
2) God loves us greatly
3) He loved us so much that when we had no connection to God and we had no eternal life in us He still gave His son so that we could be delivered from the mess that we were in and so that we could be His sons and daughters.
4) We, as Christians, Romans 10:9&10, are seated in heaven. That means in God’s eyes we are already there. It is future to us but God is saying I have reserved a place for you in heaven.
5) It’s going to take ages for us to see how great and magnificent His grace is to us
6) We are saved by grace (God’s unmerited divine favor) and not by works! I It is a gift! Did you hear that it is a GIFT! How many times over the centuries have men and women thought they were going to hell because someone told them that they did something wrong or they felt like they did something wrong. You cannot DO anything to get into heaven. If you could the Jews would have done it long ago. You can’t get in by works and you can’t loose it by works or the lack there of. GOD did it and Jesus Christ did it. What a relief. All we have to do is believe and accept. What a revelation to know that all you have to do is accept the completed work of Jesus Christ.
7) We are now in the household of God!
We don’t do works to be good enough we do works because we are so thankful for what He did for us and we want others to know and experience the greatness of being in the household of God.
