A PERSPECTIVE OF THE END TIMES FOR CHRISTIANS (After the Hope)
When Christians think of the “end times” what should they be thinking of? After all, some parts of the end times are horrific. The Anti-Christ, the wrath, the tribulation, the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Yes, these are all scary prospects but do the Christians have to be concerned about these things? Do they have to worry after going through all of that they have to go through hell and purgatory? The only place and when I say the only place I mean the ONLY PLACE to get the information that we need is the Bible. When I say the Bible I do not mean what a pastor says the Bible says. I don’t mean what a priest says the Bible says and I most certainly don’t mean what the main stream media says the Bible says. What I mean is WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT THE END TIMES FOR CHRISTIANS.
MORE ABOUT BELIEVING
In the Bible there are a few themes that run from Genesis to Revelation, one theme is Jesus Christ and another theme is believing. It is imperative to believe God. Not to believe that there is a God but to believe God, to believe the Words that were given to holy men (II Peter 1:21). Without believing you will live in the realm of the five senses where circumstances control your life and where you are tossed about with every wind of doctrine (Ephesians 4:14). With believing you will rise up above the circumstances where you are protected by God and all things that you need are provided.
KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE LORD!
Did you notice that the Bible says that Peter “began” to sink? How many times when you get out of a boat do you “begin” to sink? Every time I get out of a boat I go straight down! There’s no beginning about it. Why did Peter “begin” to sink? Because he took his eyes off Jesus AND began to look at the wind blowing and menacing and in Peter’s mind the wind had more importance and authority than Jesus Christ did. That is where most of Christendom is today.
RIGHTEOUSNESS IS FROM GOD!
I have talked to several people over the years that have a real issue with the concept of the righteousness of the Christian. They believe that because they did something in their past it precludes them from obtaining that righteousness they so desperately desire. However, when a person gains a clear understanding of what the Bible has to say about righteousness and the examples that it gives then people are set free from the doubt, worry and condemnation.
WWJD – JWB
For a long time the acronym WWJD meaning “What Would Jesus Do” has been floating around. But NOW you are about to find out the answer to that question. The short answer is that JESUS WOULD BELIEVE THE PROMISES OF GOD! Now the question is “will you follow in His footsteps?”
LOVE
The badge of Christianity is love. No one else can love like a Christian can love. The reason for this is that the Christian has Christ in them. Colossians 1: 27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: There are two types of love described in the Bible the first is the Greek word “phileo”. It could be translated into English as “brotherly love”. It is the love where I love you because you first did something for me. But, there is a greater love, a love that does not pick favorites and that has the ability to love the unlovable.
JESUS, JESUS CHRIST, CHRIST JESUS
What is in a name? Most people don’t give it a thought. In English we have one name for God – God. Yet in the Bible there are over twenty names for God including Elohim, El Shaddai, Adon and Jehovah. It is the same with the names of Jesus. You hear people praying in the name of Jesus or in the name of Jesus Christ or they pray to God and say amen. If you don’t believe that the Bible is The Word of God then you may have a problem with what I am about to say BUT if you hang in there you will see that the Bible is The Word of God. It is important to understand that God has a reason for everything that He says in the Bible, where it is placed in the Bible, why it it placed and to whom it is addressed; it is like this for the names of Jesus.
BE NOT CONFORMED TO THIS WORLD
Throughout the Bible God beseeches both the Jews and then the Christians to look to Him, via His Word, and to keep the Word of God first and foremost in their minds. It is only by the study AND application of the Word of God that we find deliverance and freedom. Money won’t give people freedom. Money won’t deliver them from the imprisonments of the mind, it can’t. The only way to be delivered and get that freedom is by an accurate study and application of the Word of God in your life.
GOD FIRST
Everybody has a center of reference for believing outside of themselves. Some people’s reference is the television, others use the works of a philosopher or a psychologist, some people listen to their friends, family and pastors for a reference for believing. Other sources could be the newspaper, the internet, movies or the radio. Very seldom does a person use the Bible as a reference for believing. You should ask yourself why people aren’t using the Bible for a reference for believing. I would suggest that the Bible is THE center of reference for believing and that by not using the Bible as THE center of reference for believing that a person puts him/her self in a position of living below par, of having a life of extreme ups and downs and one frought with peril and ill results. To be a more than conqueror that it talks about in Romans chapter eight the Bible has to be the only center of reference outside the person seeking. What I mean by a center of reference is a source of answers to questions that is true and that you can use as a template to compare other information or answers to. Doctrine would be a good word to help describe what a center of reference is. Wikipedia defines doctrine as:
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HOPE AND BELIEVING
Have you ever thought about the difference between hope and believing? God has and He used them in very specific ways in the Bible. Hope is the anticipation or expectation of receiving something In the future. The reason that it would be something in the future is because it is not available now. If you say “ I hope that I can get a better job or I hope that I can get a different car you would be wrong in you choice of words because hope is something that is out of your hands. It is out of your control. If you hope for something then you have to wait for it. John hopes that Kenny brings dinner with him. However, if John were hungry and instead of waiting for Kenny, John cooks dinner then it would be John’s believing that got him dinner. Do you see the difference? Hope and believing work like this throughout the whole Bible.
COME BOLDLY UNTO THE THRONE OF GRACE
uildings but one of the believing vs. unbelief. Let me ask you a question. Do you believe that the Bible IS the revealed word and will of God or are you just playing around? Is it so real that it is seated in your heart or is just mental assent? Do you want to enter into God’s rest and have God’s help or are you still happy with going it on your own? In Hebrews starting in chapter three God lays it out very clearly. The only way into God’s peace is by believing.
THE “EXCELLENT SPIRIT” OF DANIEL 6:3
Do you see what it says? There is no “ private” interpretation. “Private”, Greek word – idios, means one’s own or private interpretation. Then, that being the case, no one has the right or license to give their own interpretation of the Bible. Then either the Bible interprets itself or else there is no interpretation. If the Bible is the Word of God then wouldn’t God protect it and give us principles to understanding His Word? That is a good question and the answer is – yes He did set it up so that we can understand it. The Bible interprets itself in the verse (right where it is written), in the context, where it has been used before and scripture build up. I will use context and scripture build up to answer your question.
THE IMPORTANCE OF II TIMOTHY 2:15
We are going into the darkest time in the history of the World and the leadership in the Christian churches have not done their jobs. They have not prepared the Christians to be able to walk and talk with God.
WHAT IS YOUR STANDARD FOR TRUTH
It is time to decide what your center of reference for truth will be. When we are born we have five senses in which we gather information they are hearing, seeing, smelling tasting and touching. These are the only way natural man can learn. It is with these senses that we accumulate enough information to start making decisions about what is right and what is wrong, how we are going to live our lives and what standards we are going to run by. BUT, outside of those senses we have multiple centers of reference to sort through.
THERE IS POWER IN THE CHURCH -STILL
he greatest treasures of God’s Word are waiting to be discovered, again! Over the past two thousand years many of the truths in God’s Word, the Bible, have been lost do to human error, translational error and loss of understanding of the times in which the Bible was written. The result of this loss of information and understanding is the loss of power in manifestation in the Christian Church today.
GOD, THE PULPIT, GAY ANGELS AND THE COMING PERSECUTION
Let me first say that the counterfeit of truth is 90% truth. That is right it is 90% truth. The 90% is to get you hooked . The last 10% is to make you doubt or to turn you from the truth of God’s Word and to believe a lie. It’s mission, whether the author knows it or not, is to get people to turn away from the Bible and from God. The only way a book like this could even be thought about is that the Christian ministers, pastors and priests are not doing their job!
CHOOSE YOU THIS DAY WHOM YOU WILL SERVE
Over and over again in the Bible men of God have stood against tremendous odds endangering their lives to confront first Israel and then the Christians to come back to God and His Word. There are two records that are reflective of the efforts of the men and women of God through out the ages to bring God’s people back from their errant ways into the light of the knowledge of God.
THE COMMITMENT TO BELIEVE GOD (Part III)
it doesn’t matter what others say or do, you have to have the commitment, the intestinal fortitude to stand on what you know of the word and do what it says. When God says that you should pray – Pray. When God says not to worship other Gods and that God is the only one we are to worship, we do just that. These men in the Book of Daniel did just that AND they got their deliverance. You, too, can get your deliverance and see the great working of God’s mighty power if you are committed to God and His Word.
THE CONDITIONS FOR A PROSPEROUS LIFE
What I want to talk about tonight are the conditions that are required for an abundant life, a life of prosperity and health and safety. A life of walking with and for God. To do that we first should look at what is not required.
PRAYER IS NOT ENOUGH
As things get worse in our economy and in your lives you will want to pray or pray more than what you have been praying. You will most likely hear people saying “we need to pray” whether it be for the economy, the war in Iraq, God’s protection, food. Well, I am here to tell you that prayer is not enough. You have been taught that but it is not true. Prayer is not enough
GOD PROTECTS HIS WORD!
Many times I have heard scholars and lay people discussing the validity of the Bible being “The Word of God.” They never come to the Word of God (the Bible) to seek out what it has to say to but they come with their preconceived notions and try to read into the Word what they want it to say. They look for apparent contradictions to justify their position and they hinder anyone who wants to read the Bible for truth and application.
WORDS TO LIVE BY
Most Christians use the Bible as a spiritual guide but the Bible is full of practical knowledge that, when applied in one’s life, gives him/her an advantage. I have written a few down for your edification.
GOD BLESS OR GODLESS AMERICA
Here in out little town we have a group of atheists trying to stop our city council from having a prayer before the Council meetings. You know, I think that they will win because the people that make the decisions either don’t know the danger of taking God out of society, they don’t have the backbone to stand up for what they know is right, they don’t care or they are some of the ones that want to see God removed from society. What group are you in?
WHAT WOULD JESUS DO?
For most of the people that I talk to “What Would Jesus Do” means always being nice, always turning the other cheek but that is not right. For example:
THE KEY TO RICHES
The real basis for wealth is a roof over your head (housing), food on the table, clothes on your back, your health and a sound mind. You may think that is primitive and silly but think about how many people in this world do not have all five of these things. I would dare say that a good 75% of the world population is lacking in at least one of these
The Will of God vs. the Will of the Gentiles
However, one of things that I have heard is that she didn’t want to be around the party scene anymore. She did tell me that she realized this when a friend from high school showed up for a weekend visit with two BIG bottles of vodka and wanted to know where the parties were at. You see, she just wasn’t raised that way. You may think that is prudish or weird or so not with it. But I know something that you don’t know or you don’t want to admit. We are not our own!
CHRISTIANITY AND THE DOCTRINES OF DEVILS
Since the leadership in the Christian Church has not reminded the people of this Christians have mingled the doctrine of devils in with their beliefs. Therefore Christians are being taken captive by the adversary the devil at his will, many die and many more wander through this life wondering why God doesn’t answer their prayers. God never meant it to be this way. God only wants the best for the Christian!
Putting God First.
I am constantly amazed at God and His Word, the Bible. God wants to bless people. He expresses that over and over in the Bible and all you have to do is to learn to put him first in your life. Most Christians have never thought about that in the depth of what God really wants and says.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR YOUR DELIVERANCE?
So, how long does it take God to get you out of any of those prisons and situations? As long as it takes you to believe His promises!
APPLY YOUR HEART TO UNDERSTANDING
As I was reading the Bible the other day I was struck by the contrast between the last half of Proverbs 1 and the first half of Proverbs 2. What makes the contrast more poignant is how true it rings today and that it is all based on each individual’s freedom of will.
A PRIMER ON THE GRACE OF GOD
One of the principles that you should understand in studying the Word of God (the Bible) is previous usage of a word. This principle is exquisitely shown in the study of the word “grace”. By understanding and applying this principle your understanding of God’s Word will increase exponentially.
